Regular servicing helps keep your boiler running more efficiently, which in turn means that you use less fuel and will save you money. With most boiler manufacturers recommending that a service is carried out once a year, this also assists in preventing potential breakdowns which may leave you without heating.

One of the most common causes of breakdowns in an oil fired system, is water in the fuel tank, caused by condensation. When the oil meets the water a sludge is formed, this builds up over time and can be dragged through the oil line into your burner. If water is found in your tank it is best to get it removed, to help prevent a breakdown in the future.

Yes, there are a few things you can easily check before calling us:

If the boiler has locked out, try pressing the reset button.

If the boiler is oil-fired, check you haven’t run out of fuel. You can order fuel from Tincknell Fuels or call 01749 673661.

Check the boiler pressure. Bleeding a radiator can cause the pressure to drop, preventing the boiler from heating. Adjusting the pressure usually involves a valve on the boiler. If you’re unsure, consult your user manual or call us on 01749 678828 and we’ll send an engineer to assist.

Check your room thermostat. If it has been turned down, the boiler may not fire up when expected. This is a very common cause of heating issues.
